HERITAGE HILL COOKIES had its beginning almost
30 years ago when owner Carol Hubbard began
tweaking family cookie recipes. When she was in seminary,
she sold them to fellow students. Later,
her four children (Ben, Ryan, Elizabeth and Ian) sold
them in the neighborhood to earn spending money.

In 1996, Carol became a single parent -- and working full-time, freelancing on the side, and raising her four children meant that there was very little time for cookie baking.
However, over the next decade, friends, neighbors and co-workers repeatedly told Carol, "You should start a cookie business!" So, finally, in 2007, she did.

The name "Heritage Hill" comes from the national historic district of the same name in Grand Rapids, Mich., where Carol and her family lived for 22 years before she, Elizabeth and Ian (and, later, Ryan) relocated to Colorado.
It was in their beloved 1912, Craftsman-style, Heritage Hill home on Morris Avenue that a lot of cookie baking took place as "official cookie testers" Ben, Ryan, Elizabeth and Ian
were growing up.

And what is everyone up to now? . . .
Carol graduated in June from the Josef Korbel School at the University of Denver (MA in International Studies) -- with concentrations in Communication, Human Rights
and International Security.
Ben (28) served as an Army sergeant (sniper and unit leader) in Iraq and Afghanistan. When his second tour of duty ended in 2008, he married Saskia Helm of Germany. Ben now works there for the U.S. government, and Saskia manages a team at a German import company.
Elizabeth (24) attended the U of No. Colorado and is a gifted writer. She lives in Colorado Springs, where she works
for the Marriott Hotel and Starbuck's.
And Ian (20) graduated in 2009 from Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs and eventually hopes to study international business. In the meantime, he's living and working in Denver.
